Fun at the Fair

We were busy at the Cooper County Fair last week, that this week we're just taking it easy.

Last week was the Cooper County Youth Fair and we were there Wednesday-Saturday (good thing we live closer now!). Wednesday was the queen contest and a family friend of ours won! She did a great job, good luck to her at the State Fair! Thursday night was the heifer show, my brother took home Reserve Champion Heifer...YEA!! After the show was the truck and tractor pull, which I love going too...but hate the day after. This year I decided to leave at 11pm, Dale stayed until the end and got home around 1:30am, I'm so glad I left early. Friday night we got there early for the steer show and was excited for Dale's brother, he got 1st and 2nd place in both of his classes! Everybody had really nice looking steers this year, my sister took home Reserve Champion Steer. Friday was so hot that we weren't planning to stay really late, but ended being there most of the night. We went home to clean up and then enjoyed some ice cream before bed! Saturday morning was the sell and we stayed to buy a ham...I don't know who's going to eat this ham - it's a big one!!

Our next fair is the State Fair, I think we're going to take a day to go up and enjoy the sites and watch some shows. I just hope it's not too hot for me! Maybe I can rent a scooter and ride around the fair - wouldn't that be a site!

Missing Out

As I like to say, I grew up too fast and missed out on a lot of the fun I could have had showing cattle. Last week was the 2008 Junior Hereford National Expo in Kansas City. The Missouri Juniors (along with Illinois and Arkansas) were the host and my family was involved in a lot of the behind the scenes work for the show. I got to go up the weekend before the show and help with some of the prep work, that was not a good thing because that proved to me how much I missed being around that environment.

I came home from my weekend in KC and talked non stop about the show and the people who were there - Dale found out really quick that I wished I was still there. I don't think he was surprised when I went up the following Saturday to watch my brother and sister show.

This is a picture of the backdrop in the show arena...so cool! If you can see the windmill in the bottom right corner..I wanted to take it home so bad! They had them sitting around other places and they would sell them, I just didn't think Dale would be too happy that I paid $300 for a windmill. But they were cool.

Cow Butts...the best part, bring them in from tie-outs, wash, dry, feed then relax until show time! If only I was pampered as much as our show cattle are!

This week is the Cooper County Fair and then the State Fair is just a couple weeks away...I'm getting my time in. Hopefully the baby will want to show cattle so I can get involved again, but like I've said...I'm not going to force any of this on my children! It can be a pricey addiction to have:)

Belly Laughs

OK, all of my mommy friends...are you supposed to feel like a bloated balloon at 18 1/2 weeks? For the last 2 days I have felt like I'm a walking blob...my belly has to be stretching or something because there are times that I don't think I can hardly walk around without waddling. Maybe it's just me, but I feel huge. PLUS...I feel like I can eat anything. I can hardly keep any food in my house because I seem to eat everything. I was really good in the beginning about eating healthy foods and having control over how much I ate. Now, it's a whole new story, I think I could eat anything without a second thought. I sure hope this urge goes away, because I don't need a lot of weight gain to carry around...there's already enough there!

I'm sure everyone is laughing at me, saying that they know where I've been, but I just need the reassurance that I'm not the only crazy pregnant woman out there!

Better Late than Never!

I know I'm way behind the times, but I had to wait for my mom to send me the pictures from our 4th of July party before I could post anything! Anyway, we had a 4th of July party on July 5th and it turned out to be a great evening. Even though the weather was a little cool for swimming the boys sure did enjoy themeselves. Some of the girls and kids came over early to swim too...but we didn't last very long since the water was a little chilly.

Don't these boys look cute with their farmer tans! They played volleyball until dark, then shot off fireworks and were back at volleyball until 2AM!!! They are some dedicated players.

Dale did a little barbecuing for the group...all the food was so yummy!

The fireworks show was great, I've only got pictures of the beginning of the show. The boys really put on a good show for us.
This one seemed to be getting a little out of control...they finally moved the fireworks further away from their crowd!

It was a long night, but it was fun. They were talking about how they were going to do everything next year....guess you know where the party's going to be next year!

It's been a while

I know it's been a while since I've posted. I have noticed though that I have no exciting news...we're not moving, no new jobs, no remodeling to the house, no vacation..just boring Dale and Ashley!

Here's an update since my last post! Life is boring, Dale has been working non-stop for the last few weeks, if we do get to see each other it isn't for very long! There a several farmers in the area that are just giving up on the planting...so far I know that Dale has lost several acres of spraying because the farmers just aren't able to get the fields planted. It's sad that both the economy and the weather is taking a toll on farmer's this year.

It's very HOT outside and I can't stand to be outdoors...I can't stand my office either because it's very humid in there...so I guess I better just stay at home. I never thought the weather was going to have this much of an affect on me being pregnant...I used to not care how hot it was outside I would still go, but not now! Great, the weather woman just said it the heat and humidity were going to return...there's never a break!

The baby is still doing great. I had an appointment yesterday and things seemed fine. We did have a little scare early last week but things are just fine. I have been trying to just take it easy for a while but sometimes I just can't sit still. My mom still swears that the baby will come early...I still thinks it's way to early to tell. I'm growing, it was determined by ultrasound that my placenta is in front of the baby (which is fine) so that's why my tummy has popped out a little more!

We did have a July 4th party (on the 5th) but I don't have the pictures yet...I'll post about that soon. We also haven't had a lot of time to swim...but we've been keeping the pool clean for anyone wanting to partake in the fun!

There's an update...see I told you we didn't have anything exciting going on!
